The coating – whether it be OPTIWEB, NANOWEB or POLYWEB – protects not only the outer string surface, but also the gaps between the windings. As a result, according to players Elixir Strings retain their tone longer than any other brand's coated or uncoated string. 

Whether you choose our OPTIWEB, NANOWEB or POLYWEB Coated electric strings, you can rest assured that they all provide the long tone-life players have come to expect from Elixir Strings. There are some differences among them.  

OPTIWEB Coated strings sound like an uncoated string, with a crisp tone and natural feel. These are often the strings of choice for players who prefer the tone and feel of uncoated strings.    
NANOWEB Coated strings have a bright tone and smooth feel.  
POLYWEB Coated strings have a warm tone with a slick, fast feel.  

The featherweight coatings on Elixir Electric Strings serve as a protective barrier against tone-killing dirt and debris that builds up between the windings of a string. Although it is good practice to wipe your strings with a dry cloth after playing to remove any loose debris or moisture, we do not recommend the use of any cleaners or lubricants.
